Super Skelemania is a metroidvania adventure game where you play as a lost and distraught skeleton who has found himself on a strange planet. Armed with nothing but his skull as a weapon, you’ll need to traverse through the planet to find skills to aid you with escaping. Explore the darkest corners and climb to the tallest ledges and discover all the secrets waiting for you. Only if you’re able to decipher the puzzle of the planet will you then be able to leave.

While only two playthroughs are required for the Platinum, I’m going to split the trophy list into three just to make it easier. It is possible to combine steps 1 and 2 if you don’t want to do a 3rd run, but honestly the game is not that long (maybe an hour or so), so it’s recommended you stick with the 3 listed below. Doing steps 1 and 2 separately will also help you familiarize yourself with the game and the map layouts, which will make the Speedrun for Step 3 easier.

Step 1: Play through the game, collecting everything

For this step, you want to leave nothing behind. Collect all the Maps and Life Up Skills while also locating the secret room. Since you’re not on a time crunch, make sure you also save at one of the Save Bells scattered throughout the game. The Gongs and Skills are all Story Related so your main focus will be on making sure you don’t miss anything outside of those. If you do, everything can still be picked up after you complete the game by hitting “play” from the Main Menu (it’ll start you back at your previous autosave). There is a good area in the Emerald Mines for you to get Home run!, so please see that trophy for more info on knocking out an enemy. Don’t worry about getting the Human Skin for Worthy of skin on this run, as it requires a lot of back and forth traveling to ring the Gongs in a certain order, so just do that on your second playthrough. If you’re having trouble with the Frog Boss, please see Dash Get! and if you’re having trouble with the final boss, please see On to the next adventure!. Once you have completed the game, you will have earned the following (the order will vary from person to person, so these are just listed by trophy value, not the order they will unlock):

Step 2: Human Skin

Now that you’ve played through the game once, you should have an idea of where the Skills and Gongs are. Nothing else is needed for this trophy, so don’t worry about any Maps, Life Up Skulls, etc. Depending on how much exploring you did in Step 1, you may or may not have read the books inside the secret room required for Who put a door in here?. These books attach a letter to each of the Gongs. You need to ring them in order so they spell H-U-M-A-N. If you didn’t read the books, all good, their order is provided under this trophy description. Doing the Gongs in the correct order will require a lot of back and forth traveling, which is why it’s recommended you do this separately. Once the Gongs are all rang in the correct order, you’ll need to retrieve the Skin Orb from a somewhat hidden room in the Red Jungle (the location is provided under the trophy description as well). Once you have picked up the skin, you will earn:

Step 3: Speedruns

Luckily, all 3 Speedrun trophies will unlock at the same time so long as you complete the game in under 17 minutes. A video for the route you need to take has been provided under On the way to the World Record. You’ll want to take massive advantage of the autosave system in the game to get under 17 minutes, so please see that same trophy for tips on how to properly use this feature to your advantage. Once you have completed the game in under 17 minutes, you will have earned:

Get all the trophies

You’re Super! Super Skelemania that is! The quickest and wittiest skeleton in town doesn’t just bring you notoriety, it also brings you a shiny new platinum!

NGn0Tfg.png Worthy of Skin trophy_gold.png
Become human

*MISSABLE*

To complete the game, you’ll need to locate and ring 5 gongs. There is one in each of the 5 areas and you’ll know when you get them because an image of a gong will be in the top right of the screen. For this trophy, you need to hit them in a particular order.

If you found the secret area for Who put a door here?, you may have also found that there were some books that you can read that assign each Gong a letter. You need to hit the Gongs in order so they spell HUMAN. The order in which you need to hit them is as follows (the color of each image matches the color of the map of the area you’ll find the gong in):

LfIg04V.png

When you’ve rang all 5 in the correct order, you need to make your way back to The Red Jungle (the red map). In the very top left of the map is a door (marked with the red dot):

wol_error.gif This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 702x517. GjReYyd.png

You’ll need the Backflip and Dash abilities to reach it. Blocking you from the door is a vertical line of breakable blocks. Keep the bottom 3 in place and destroy the blocks above it. Stand on the small column of 3 blocks and jump up to the door.

If you didn’t ring the gongs in the correct order, you’ll enter a small hallway-like room. There will be a TV set that, when interacted with, will tell you that you’re not worthy.

If you did ring the gongs in the correct order, you will be in a very large room. Head all the way to the right and there will be the Human Skin Orb for you to pick up. Do so to unlock the trophy. When you regain control, exit out the door you came in.

Complete the game within 17 minutes

*MISSABLE*

This is by far the most difficult trophy in the game and will more than likely take you the most time to earn. Before you get started, however, go into Settings on the main menu and make sure the “TIMER” is turned on.

Now that you have that taken care of, the next thing you want to do is practice the path you need to take. To finish in under 17 minutes, you’ll be avoiding everything except for the Skills and the Gongs. Don’t worry about ringing any of the save bells and don’t go out of your way for any of the Life Up Skulls or Maps. Those are 100% not needed!

You’ll want to aim to hit the Skills/Gongs in the following order (with the timestamp you want to aim to be at when you get to them)

  • Dive Power (1:30)
  • Backflip Power (3:10)
  • Frog Boss (5:00)
  • Dash Power (5:30)
  • Red Jungle Gong (6:15)
  • Bowl Power (7:00)
  • Ancient Oak Gong (10:03)
  • The Sanctum Gong (10:36)
  • Ground Pound Power (11:36)
  • Emerald Mines Gong (12:50)
  • Dead Jungle Gong (14:00)
  • Final Boss (15:00)
  • Blast Power (16:15)
  • Exit to the outside and off the planet from here (should be about 30 seconds worth total)

Instead of posting 20+ images showing the path you need to take, a video for the Speedrun has been provided instead. Since you won’t be picking up any Maps along the way (save for maybe one that is along the correct path), a video will prove to be more useful so you can see where exactly you need to go.

Pausing the game will not stop the clock

However... you can use the autosave feature to a MASSIVE advantage. Every time you go through a door, the game will autosave (so basically whenever you enter a new area). Since you will be avoiding all of the Save Bells, these [doors] will be your key to completing the game in time. As long as you don’t die, you can exit back to the main menu at any point and, when you hit “play” on your current game file, it will start you back at the last autosave point WITH the time you had when that autosave was made. So say you enter Emerald Mines at 2:36 and play that area until you hit 4:56 on the clock, you can exit out and hitting “play” will start you back at the beginning of the Mines at that saved 2:36 time.

This is incredibly beneficial for this trophy as it allows you to constantly practice an area until you get a good time, so long as you don’t go through any doors, die, or ring any save bells. Please reference the video above as much as you can to ensure you are taking the correct path.

If you do not wish to use this feature, you can attempt to do the entire game all in one go, but it will not be easy, so using the autosave method is highly recommended.

Your goal will be to leave about a minute and a half to take down the final boss and exit the planet to complete the game. So long as the clock does not go over 17:00, the trophy will unlock as soon as you finish. If you have not yet earned Speedrunner or Hasty Player, they will also unlock here.

This trophy will unlock once you have rang all 5 Gongs, defeated the final boss, and rocketed yourself off of the planet using the Blast Skill (picked up right after you defeat said boss). The Life Up Skulls and Maps are not required for this trophy, just the Skills and the Gongs. However, if you’re trying to get the Platinum with minimal playthroughs of the game, you’ll want to grab everything in your first run/while going for this trophy. In regards to the Gongs, please see Worthy of skin as there is a specific order in which you need to ring them to get that trophy, otherwise it will require its own playthrough.

If you’re having any trouble locating any of the items, they all have their own respective trophies so please see below for locations and images to guide you along the way.

Before you can finish the game, you’ll need to defeat the final boss (this will be right before you pick up the Blast power). After all the Gongs have been rang, you’ll find the boss in the Dead Jungle:

wol_error.gif This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 835x697. CJ5z8Qo.png

There are two parts to this fight.

  • Part 1: There are 3 holes in the room - one of the left, one center, and one on the right. At random, an eye will appear in the one of the holes. After about 1-2 seconds, it’ll shoot some projectiles in your direction. You need to dodge the projectiles, jump with your Backfip power, and hit the eye. Repeat this about 5-6 times and Part 2 will start.
  • Part 2: The room will crumble a bit (don’t worry, the falling rocks won’t hurt you) and the boss will appear in the center. He will have one large eyeball on top of his head. You need to jump up and attack him. When the eye starts to flash, it’ll shoot projectiles at you that you need to dodge. Periodically, the boss will release little flying minions that will take one hit to kill. You can ignore these if you want or kill them, it’s up to you. If they’re left alive, it’ll just be more things you need to dodge. When the boss’ mouth starts to flash red, he’ll release a large red laser-like attack directly down, so just be on the lookout for that so you don’t get hit. As the fight goes on, the projectiles the eye shoots will be faster and more frequent. The boss itself will start to turn very red until finally, he has been defeated.

If you need visual help for this fight, please see the video provided under On the way to the World Record

Once you have defeated the final boss, head into the room to the left to pick up the Blast power. Go back to the room the boss was in and rocket yourself upwards. Follow the path up and around until you are outside (the ground will be brown, it’ll be where you first started the game). As soon as you can, rocket yourself upwards to leave the planet and unlock the trophy.

jn1mhT0.png Who put a door in here? trophy_gold.png
Discover the secret room

You’ll need to have the Backflip Skill in order to get this trophy (please see Backflip Get! for how to retrieve the orb for that). In The Sanctum (the gray-map area), go right after dropping down the first long tower. Keep following this path and you’ll climb up two ladders and find yourself on a split path. Going right will lead you to the Map Icon and the long drop that leads to the doorway for the Red Jungle, but heading left (up onto a ledge) will lead you towards the secret room and the Ancient Oak. Head up left and when you reach the very top, instead of following the path to the right, jump on the ledge to the left.

dnRU0jN.png

While standing on the ledge, you’ll have a button prompt (Triangle18x18.png) to enter a hidden door. Go inside and the trophy will unlock.

Note: You will also find the books which contain the clues you need for Worthy of skin in this room, but will need the Bowl Power and Blast Power to read them all.

Collect all Map orbs

Each area will have a Map orb that you can pick up. Doing so will give you, you guessed it, a map of the area you’re currently in! Luckily, finding them is pretty straightforward and, as long as you can enter the area, you won’t need any additional skills to retrieve the map orbs. Their locations are as follows (marked with a red dot on each map):

If you miss any of these before you finish the game, you can go back and get them afterwards. The game will autosave after you exit the last door, so from the main menu, hit "play" on the respective game file, and you'll be able to explore the game again and collect anything you may have missed.

ZOsshXO.png Healthy bones trophy_gold.png
Collect all Life orbs

The Life Orbs will give you an extra skull of health when picked up. In total, there are 3 to find - one in the Red Jungle, one in the Emerald Mines, and one in the Dead Jungle, all of which will require you to go off the beaten path to get. Their locations are as follows (marked with a red/yellow dot on each map):

Get the Dive power

Story Related

The Dive Power is the first power you will pick up in the game and is located in the Red Jungle (the 2nd area you enter, with the red-ish map). To find it, follow the path marked on the map below:

wol_error.gif This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 702x517. wIaCVGg.png

When you have it, you’ll be able to dive after jumping by hitting Cross18x18.png again. Once you pick it up, the trophy will unlock.

Get the Backflip power

Story Related

The Backflip is the second power that you will pick up and is located in the Emerald Mines (the 3rd area, with the brown-ish map). You will need to pick up the Dive power in order to reach this area. Once here, follow the path marked below:

wol_error.gif This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 926x656. bPuYphU.png

When you have it, hitting circle18x18.png while on the ground will allow you to do a backflip, which is just about double your normal jump. As soon as you pick up the power, the trophy will unlock.

KXnTSUU.png Dash Get! trophy_silver.png
Get the Dash power

Story Related

The Dash power is the third power you’ll pick up in the game and is located in the Red Jungle (the area with the red map). You’ll need the Backflip power to reach it. It’s location is as follows:

wol_error.gif This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 702x517. izQ65AG.png

Before you can pick up the Dash power orb, though, you’ll need to defeat the Frog mini-boss. He’s not too difficult and can be burned down pretty quickly. When you reach him, you’ll need to hit him once to start the actual fight. From here, he take two small leaps towards the center, then one large leap to the opposite side of the room. When he lands, he’ll stick his tongue out across the room, which you’ll need to jump over with using your Backflip (circle18x18.png). Your chances to hit him are after the second small leap and after the large leap across the room. The more damage he takes, the quicker he will be. He will also become more and more red until he is finally defeated.

Once you’ve defeated him, the far left door will open. This room contains the Dash power orb so go inside and once you have it, the trophy will unlock.

This ability allows you to break through broken walls, not floors, by holding R2.png while running. Using this power will also allow you to jump further with your normal jump and with your Backflip.

hj7zgAr.png Bowl Get! trophy_silver.png
Get the Bowl power

When you have it, while standing, hold DpadDown.png and press Cross18x18.png to remove your head and roll it across the ground. Where it stops is where you will regain your body and continue on from. This will allow you to travel through small passageways that your skeleton body is otherwise to big to fit in. As soon as you have the power, the trophy will unlock.

Before you can get this skill, you will need to have rang all 5 Gongs and defeat the final boss. If you’re having trouble, please see On to the next adventure! for tips on that fight. When the boss is down, a door on the left side of the room will open. This room contains the skill orb. Pick it up and the trophy will unlock.

You only need this skill for two things:
  1. Find one of the books in the secret room for a clue on getting Worthy of skin
  2. Blast yourself off of the planet to finish the game

There will be 3 layers you need to travel through, each with an enemy shooting at you. At this point, you'll have the Ground Pound power. When one of them shoots at you, use the Ground Pound so you hit the projectile. This will rocket it back at the enemy, knocking him out and unlocking the trophy.

If you miss this before you defeat the final boss, you can go back to clean it up. The game will autosave after you exit the final door, so when you're at the main menu, hit "play" on the respective game file and you'll be able to freely explore the game.
