Solo: Islands of the Heart is a personal journey you will take to learn about love and the consequences of your decisions and opinions based on it. Throughout the game, you’ll be tasked with completing a variety of puzzles to light up lighthouses and Totems. Each time you activate a Totem, you’ll be asked a question. You don’t have to answer honestly if you don’t want to, but you will get more out of the game if you do. The dialogue with your ghost partner will alter based on your answers to the questions and you’ll be forced to confront your decisions face to face with him/her. At the end of the game, you’ll get one final judgement call that will give you a summary of yourself based on your journey in the game. From there, you can decide if being with your partner is the right decision, or if maybe going forward solo is the way to go. The decision will be up to you.

Glitched Trophies:

The two trophies listed as glitched in the overview are not listed as such for being game-breaking, but more that if you miss anything required for them, the clean-up may prove to be easier than intended.

For a Heart Full of Music, you need to pick up 5 songs period. If you miss any on your initial playthrough, you can pick up the same songs on your second run and they will still count towards the 5. So if you picked up the first 3 but missed the last 2, you can pick up the first 2 again and the trophy will unlock.

For Making New Friends, you need to feed 16 animals. If you miss any on your initial playthrough, you only need to feed the animals you missed on your second run to get the trophy. The progress for this does not reset when you create a new save file.

Step 1: Complete the Introduction and the first Archipelago

The steps are being separated into individual steps so you can make sure you get everything you need before moving on. You can freely roam each opened area of each archipelago while you are there, but as soon as you leave, you cannot go back. In the first archipelago, there are 4 Animals you need to feed for Making new friends, 1 song to pick up for A heart full of music, and of course the flower garden and Puchuchu. You will also have multiple opportunities to get Gotcha! so make sure you pet one mole as soon as you get a chance. The red seagull and sapling you need for Helping out. are also on the first archipelago so be sure to check out that trophy before starting as there are only two opportunities to take a picture of the red seagull needed. Be sure to also interact with all the ghost partners you come across, be it if they’re on a swing, at a fountain, etc. If you’d like to follow along a video guide for this section, please see Wind passes by. After this step, you will earn:

:bronze Could we wait a bit longer?
:bronze Gotcha!
:silver Helping out.
:silver Together, just us.
:silver Caring for your mind.
:gold Wind passes by.

Step 2: Complete the second Archipelago

On the second archipelago, you’ll need to feed 5 Animals, pick up 3 Songs, reunite two sets of Puchuchu, water one flower garden (there are two but only one is needed), and you’ll also be taking a picture of a fish and giving it to the sapling for Giving, not receiving. You’ll also have more opportunities to get Gotcha! if you didn’t get it in step 1, so if you’re still missing that one, just keep an eye out for the moles. Make sure you’re also continuing to interact with all the ghost partners you come across. The location of everything required is listed under their respective trophies, but if you prefer to use a video guide, please see Building bridges. for one. After this step, you will have earned:

:silver Home sweet home.
:silver Together, again.
:silver Giving, not receiving.
:silver Caring for the world.
:gold Building bridges.

Step 3: Complete the third Archipelago and get both endings

You do not need to do two separate playthroughs for both endings. When you finish one playthrough, just hit continue from the main menu and you’ll start back at the end of the game and will be able to make the opposite choice than you did the first time. For the archipelago itself, you’ll be feeding the last 7 animals and finding the last song. You’ll also be helping to reunite two sets of Puchuchu and water the flower garden. As long as you were interacting with all of the ghost partners throughout the game, Tireless seeking will unlock about midway through this section. The locations of the animals, the song, the Puchuchu, and the flower garden are all listed under their respective trophies, but if you prefer to use a video guide, please see To stick together. After this step, you will earn:

:silver I missed you!
:silver Together, forever.
:silver Caring for yourself.
:gold To stick together.
:gold Communication.
:gold Solo.
:gold A heart full of music.
:gold Making new friends.
:gold Tireless seeking.
:plat Platinum

Lay on the beach.

Missable.

This will be the first trophy you get in the game. At the very start, make your way down the cliffs in front of your house and there will be a chair and blanket on the beach down below.

Interact with the chair to sit down and the trophy will pop very shortly after.

Photograph a red seagull for the sapling and give it to him.

Missable.

After you get the magic staff on the first archipelago, you’ll come to the island with the flower garden for Caring for your mind. There is a sapling behind the next white lighthouse you interact with in this same area.

qGk2fLi.png

He’ll give you a quest to bring him a photo of a red seagull. You’ll have two opportunities to get a photo before you interact with him (you can only backtrack to one of them, though). They are as follows:

  • At the very start of the game, on the second floor balcony of your house (you can’t backtrack to this one once you leave the introduction/home island)
    6JEfOME.png
  • On the first archipelago, behind the second white lighthouse, on a rock (you can backtrack to this one if you missed it)
    pUmCwfp.png

Whether you take the photo before or after you talk to him, talk to him a second time to give him the photo and to unlock the trophy.

Help the Puchuchu on the first archipelago.

Missable.

After you get the magic staff and activate the next Totem, the first Puchuchu are on the next island that appears (the one where you learn about rotating blocks). On the opposite side of the ledge with the Totem, there will be a broken bridge with one Puchuchu on each side. You need to use blocks to fix the bridge to allow the Puchuchu to cross and be reunited. Puchuchu cannot climb up, they can only climb down. Rotate a block that blows air so it’s upside down, then place it in between the two bridges.

As soon as the Puchuchu have been reunited, the trophy will unlock.

Water the flowers on the first archipelago.

Missable.

After you pick up the magic staff, you’ll need to activate two Totems and then will reach the island with the flowers. To water the flowers, you need to place a pipe block to move the water stream so it hits the little water wheel on top of the sprinkler system.

Wait for the sprinkler to water all of the flowers and the trophy will unlock.

Complete the first archipelago.

Story Related.

When you get to the final lighthouse, interact with the very top of it to unlock the next archipelago as well as this trophy. If you've missed anything on the first archipelago, this is your last chance to go back as once you leave the island, you can't come back. If you're having any issues with the Totem puzzles, please see the video below for help with this area.

Help the first Puchuchu on the second archipelago to be together.

Missable.

After lighting up the first Totem, the first group of Puchuchu will be at the start of the next island. There are three spaces between the bridges on this one, but you’ll only need to place two blocks. Remember, Puchuchu cannot climb up, they can only climb down.

Start by turning the block blowing air so it’s upside down and place it on the far left spot. Place the block that extends the bridge on top so the bridge extends to the right.

Once the Puchuchu’s have been reunited the trophy will unlock.

Help the last Puchuchu on the second archipelago to be together.

Missable.

When you reach the final island, you’ll talk to a large golem. The Puchuchu puzzle is immediately after and will be the longest one you have to do in the game. It starts on the left and wraps around to the right. As before, just remember that Puchuchu cannot climb up, they can only climb down.

First Section:

Rotate a block blowing air so it’s upside down and place it on the far left open spot. Place a bridge block on top so the bridge extends to the right. Place a normal block on the left edge of the next little island (just below where the previous bridge ends). Place another bridge block on top of it so the bridge extends to the right. Place one more normal block to fill the last gap between the block bridge and the next island.

FALx0QC.png

Second Section:

Rotate a block blowing air so it’s upside down and place it directly between the two bridges.

491l5iM.png

Third Section:

Rotate a block blowing air so it’s upside down and place it on the far left spot. Place a normal block just to the right of the blowing block (place it on the ground). Place a bridge block on top of the normal block so the bridge extends to the right.

Fourth Section:

Stack two normal blocks on top of each other directly between the two bridges.

Giving, not receiving. trophy_silver.png
Photograph a fish for the sapling and give it to him.

Missable.

When you have to light up the second Totem, the white lighthouse you need to interact with first in on its own separate island. Just to the left of the lighthouse is a sapling.

U79rDXg.png

Interact with him and he will give you a quest to bring him a photo of a fish. There won’t be an opportunity to get this yet so you’ll need to do some minor backtracking to finish it.

After you light the totem, head to the next island. Just to the right at the start of it will be a flower area. This is not the flower area required for Caring for the world. It’s up to you as to whether or not you want to complete it. Either way, you need to use a bridge block so it extends towards the higher ledge up on the left.

gHeSkVw.png

Top to the top of it and behind this ledge and is a small island with a ghost and a bell.

TDKJbMQ.png

Float down to the island and interact with the bell to ring it. Three fish will pop up out of the water and float in the air for a few seconds. While they’re floating, take a picture of one of them (doesn’t matter which one). Swim your way back to the island with the white lighthouse and the sapling. Talk to the sapling again to give him the photo and to unlock the trophy.

Water the flowers on the second archipelago.

Missable.

There are two flower sections on the second archipelago. The first one is just before the door leading to the block puzzles inside the building (this one DOESN’T count for this trophy) and the second one is immediately after you complete the puzzles inside the building. This second one is the one you need for the trophy.

There are two ledges in this puzzle: the left and the right. You don’t need to do anything to the left so just focus on the right most ledge. Place a block blowing air on the ground on the lower left ledge of the right island. Place a pipe block on top so it floats up and pushes the water into the water wheel, activating the sprinkler system.

Iwt8wJI.png
(you can ignore the block on the left ledge in the picture - it's not needed)

Wait for all of the flowers to bloom and the trophy will unlock.

Story Related.

When you get to the final lighthouse, interact with the very top of it to unlock the third and final archipelago as well as this trophy. Help the first Puchuchu on the third archipelago to be together.

Missable.

After lighting up the third Totem, the next island you come to will have the first Puchuchu puzzle. It’s small puzzle that will use the 2 normal blocks, 1 sticky block, and 1 air block to complete. Puchuchu cannot climb up, they can only climb down.

Put the air block right side up on the ground directly in the center of the two bridges. Place the sticky block on top of it so it floats up. Place one normal block on the left side of the sticky block and the other normal block on the right side to complete the bridge.

When the Puchuchu have reunited, the trophy will unlock.

Help the last Puchuchu on the third archipelago to be together.

Missable.

After lighting the Totem near the ghost laying down on the ledge, the last group of Puchuchu will be at the beginning of the next island (it’ll be a blue island). There are two parts to it, as before just remember, Puchuchu cannot climb up, they can only climb down.

First Part:

There are 5 spots between the two bridges you need to connect. Rotate an air block upside down and place it on the far right open spot. Place a bridge block on top of it so the bridge extends to the left. Rotate the other air block upside down and place it on the far left open spot. Place the sticky block on top of it. Finally, place the normal block on the right side of the sticky block to complete the bridge.

EmnL72S.png

Second Part:

Rotate an air block upside down and place it on the far left open spot. Place a bridge block on top of it so it extends to the right. Place a normal block down so it’s just after the end of the bridge (the second empty space from the right). Place a sticky block on top of the normal block. Rotate the last air block in any direction so it’s not blowing upwards and then place it on the right side of the sticky block to complete the bridge.

Once the two Puchuchu have been reunited, the trophy will unlock.

Caring for yourself. trophy_silver.png

Water the flowers on the third archipelago.

Missable.

The flowers will be immediately after you exit the building with the block puzzles inside of it. You only need three blocks to complete the puzzle, but it may take a bit of angling to get it right.

Where the water disperses, place one of the angled blocks so the stream starts to shoot towards the rock path. Place the normal block so the stream shoots towards the sprinkler hut (with the water wheel on it). Place the second angled block so it shoots the water into the water wheel.

ajpp3h3.png

It might be easier to place the angled blocks first and the normal block last, so if you’re having trouble getting the angle right, try doing that. Wait for all the flowers to bloom and once they do, the trophy will unlock.

Complete the third archipelago.

Story Related.

When you get to the final lighthouse, interact with the very top of it and you'll make your way to the final area for Solo. and Communication. Interacting with this lighthouse will also unlock the trophy. If you've missed anything on this archipelago, this is your last chance to go back as once you leave the island, you can't come back. If you're having any issues with the Totem puzzles or anything else related to this area, please see the video below for help with this area.

Communication. trophy_gold.png
Complete the game talking on the bench.

When you reach the very end of the game, you’ll have the option to sit down and end the game with your love, or you’ll leave the island on a boat by yourself. For this trophy, you need to end the game sitting on the bench.

If you did not get this ending on your initial playthrough, do you NOT need to play the game over again to get it. From the main menu, just hit continue and it’ll start you right before you need to make the final choice. Finish the game choosing the correct method and the trophy will unlock.

Solo. trophy_gold.png
Complete the game by boat.

When you reach the very end of the game, you’ll have the option to sit down and end the game with your love, or you’ll leave the island on a boat by yourself. For this trophy, you need to end the game sailing away on the boat.

If you did not get this ending on your initial playthrough, do you NOT need to play the game over again to get it. From the main menu, just hit continue and it’ll start you right before you need to make the final choice. Finish the game choosing the correct method and the trophy will unlock.

A heart full of music. trophy_gold.png
Gather all the songs.

Missable.

There are 5 songs total that you need to pick up: 1 on the first Archipelago, 3 on the second, and 1 on the third. They are all picked up by interacting with a campsite.

Song #1: This one is incredibly hard to miss and will be on the very last island, just before you go up to the final lighthouse. There is a sapling here who will ask you to play him a song. Just behind him is a campsite. Interact with the tent to pick up the song (A song of joy...).

49YnaKG.png

Song #2: This one is found at the beginning of the second archipelago. When you cross the initial bridge, there is a campsite just to the left of the of the golden statue (the same area where you first the blue bird the animal). Interact with the tent to pick up the song (Lose colours to gain insight…).

NFBGoZz.png

Song #3: This one is on the second archipelago and is found immediately after exiting the building with the indoor block puzzles. When you’re back outside, there will be a campsite immediately in front of the door you came out of. Interact with the tent to pick up the song (Raindrops to hide your tears…).

mrmtAhz.png

Song #4: This one is on the last island of the second archipelago. There is a campsite just to the right of the golem (in the same area as the Puchuchu for Together, again. Interact with the tent to pick up the song (Summon the dwellers…).

6wiZlB9.png

Song #5: This one is on the third archipelago. After you light the first totem, you come to an area with 3 animals, (1 bee, 1 bird, and 1 elephant). There is a ledge across from the white totem that has a campsite on top of it. Climb up to the top using the blocks. Interact with the tent to pick up the song (A call for celebration…).

eC8p12b.png

Once you pick up the last song, the trophy will unlock.

If you missed any songs... a little bit of good news. The trophy unlocks as soon as you pick up the 5th song, no matter what it is. So if you only picked up 4 songs on your initial playthrough, you’ll only need to pick up one on your second run for the trophy to unlock - even if it’s a song you already picked up! Your progress towards this trophy does not reset when you create a new save file.

Making new friends. trophy_gold.png
Feed all the animals in the game.

Missable.

There are 16 animals in total that you need to feed: 5 on the first Archipelago, 4 on the second, and 7 on the third.

First Archipelgo:
#1: After you get the parachute, you’ll light up one more Totem before you reach the area with the first animal. When you get to the new area, there will be a bee-like creature walking around. Grab a banana from the tree nearby and feed it to the animal.

#2. On the same island with the flowers you need to water for Caring for your mind is the second animal. It’s another bee-like creature. The bananas are just nearby, next to a broken crate. Feed the banana to the animal.

#3 & #4: The 3rd and 4th animals are in the same spot on the last island of the Archipelago. The bananas are right next to the golem and there’s a bee-creature by the sapling and one by the campsite. Feed both of them before moving on.

Second Archipelago:
#5: At the start of the archipelago, right after you cross the initial bridge, there will be a blue bird just by the golden statue. There are some apples on the left feed. Pick up one and feed it to the bird.

#6: In the area just after the 5th animal, there is a bee-creature walking around. The bananas are on the ledge across the gap. To get to them, use the bridge block to cross the gap. Pick up a banana and feed it to the bee.

#7: After you get through the indoor block puzzles, when you get back outside, there is a blue bird immediately outside of the door you exit. The apples are right in front of you.

#8 & #9: The next two animals are immediately after the 7th. When you climb up the ledges, you’ll see a bee and a blue bird. The apples are in a bush just at the beginning on the little area. The Bananas are on the same ledge as the white lighthouse you need to interact with. Feed the apple to the blue bird and the banana to the bee.

Third Archipelago:
#10: At the start of the archipelago, after you cross the first bridge, there will be a pink elephant walking around. There are slices of cheese up on the ledge with the white lighthouse. Feed a slice of cheese to the elephant.

#11, #12, & #13: After you light the first Totem, on the next area that appears is 1 Bee, 1 Blue Bird, and 1 Elephant. The bananas for the bee are just by the entrance of the island, the apples for the bird are by the golden statue, and the cheese is behind the ghost sitting on the pillar.

#14: After you complete the block puzzles indoors, you’ll come back outside to the flowers you need to water for Caring for yourself. Just after this area will be a pink elephant walking around. The cheese you need to feed it is around the left side of the large cliff side (the one with the Totem on top of it).

#15 & #16: After you complete the puzzle to reunite the Puchuchu for Together, forever, there will be a pink elephant and a bee in the next area. The cheese is on the top ledge near the start of the area (feed this to the elephant) and the bananas are in a bush on the left side (feed this to the bee).

Once you have fed all 16 animals, the trophy will unlock.

If you missed an animal on your initial playthrough... good news! Depending on which animal you missed, you will not have to play a completely new playthrough to get this trophy. The progress towards the trophy does not reset when you create a new save file. If you missed animal #7 on the initial run, you will only need to feed animal #7 on your second run to get the trophy.

Tireless seeking. trophy_gold.png
Interact with all the ghost partners.

Missable.

Throughout the game, there will be multiple ghost partners to interact with, but not all of them are required for this trophy. Unfortunately, the exact ones that are required are a little in the gray area, so it’s best to interact with them all until the trophy unlocks for you. This includes all of the swings, the fountains, and the random interactions you can have with the ghost (meditation, swimming, etc). As long as you are interacting with them all, the trophy will unlock around half way through the 3rd Archipelago. Note that there will still be ghosts you can interact with AFTER the trophy unlocks which is cause for the gray area surrounding the ones that are actually needed.

21S56b7f1.png

Gotcha! trophy_bronze.png

Pet a hiding mole.

Missable.

While the trophy is missable, it’s incredibly hard to actually miss. Throughout the game, when you climb on top of high ledges, a mole will push a platform down, creating a lift so if you happen to fall off, you can easily get back to where you were. In the beginning of the game, these moles will always stay visible, but as you progress, there will be a few instances when they burrow and run away, so make sure you get this done as soon as you can.

Whenever a mole drops the lift, walk up to it and, if it doesn’t run away, interact with it to pet it. As soon as you do, the trophy will unlock.
