Sony is coming for the VITA, if i understand it right, the gmae (and memory) cards are proprietary so SONY is the only one that makes them, and then sells them to the game publishers.

So especially with the region lock on the VITA, it looks like Sony is wrapping it up.

This will also kill the easy VN's and just make a mess of things.

Read about it earlier: but I have to point out one thing - acc. to this article only US and EU decided to stop it, which means (maybe?) JPN will still be alive -> VNs!

I have this feeling that JPN will not let go so easily... I think Vita is pretty much alive there (since PSP is still actually).

But it is only my opinion. So... Then only digital distribution -> end of VNs and this never-ending race, weee! Finally!

.

.

.

Nope, who I am trying to fool...

Will have to finally learn how to make this account swap then :P.

It’s only us and Eu. The vita is very healthy in japan unlike the US. Besides LRG, only aksys is really releasing anything here.

Sony is stopping making the cards (as i understand it)

that means no new physical games anywhere once those are gone

unless they are going to let people start making their own and just giving sony a cut

PS Vita will be manufactured until 2019 in Japan and there are currently no plans for a successor, Sony Interactive Entertainment senior vice president Hiroyuki Oda told Famitsu at Tokyo Game Show 2018.

“Currently, we do not have any plans regarding a new handheld device,” Oda said. “In Japan, we will manufacture PlayStation Vita until 2019. From there, shipping will end.”

In related news, Oda confirmed that the 20 titles in the newly announced PlayStation Classic will differ between Japan and the west. (All of the currently announced titles are shared, however.) Oda said that each title is being carefully selected on the basis that it is highly popular, has a lot of fans, and is representative of PlayStation.

I'm so bummed, but not surprised.  I love the Vita, and think Sony gave up on it wayyy too quickly in terms of first-party support. That put all but the final nail in its coffin.

I was thinking the same thing. Be worth buying a new vita and never opening it. Be worth some money in a few years.

Overall its such a shame the vita isnt as big as it should be. I love my vita.
