Introduction: Energy Balance is a puzzle game from the creators of the infamous Energy Cycle in which you must arrange numbered tiles on a board in such a way that every row and column present has the proper sum when all tiles on that row are added together. While board shapes remain constant for a level, the number tiles and required sums will never be the same, so the game has some replay value even after clearing every level for the first time.

Unfortunately, this also means that unlike Energy Cycle, there is no real solution guide for the puzzles and thus you will have to work them out yourself. That said, there is a program you can use that will essentially brute-force solutions until it comes across one that works, which, while time-consuming on later puzzles, will allow you to do the game with very little effort other than entering values.

Step 0: Harness the Computer Energy: If you do not plan on doing this platinum legitimately, you should download the solver code as well as a simple Java program such as JGrasp to run it on if you do not already have one.

I have made a guide to doing so here.

Step 1: The Story of Energy: Right now, you will just want to do the story levels, which are generally not that bad even later on, so unless math isn't your forte, you may actually be able to do these yourself with little issue, especially since due to how small the numbers are, there are a few different solutions you can come across on the larger levels.

Step 2: Hardcore Energy: Now that you have done the story, you will move on to Hardcore, which takes four of the story layouts and makes the numbers much larger. Since this will limit your possibilities due to many rows and columns needing specific tiles to work, you will likely have a much harder time with these as there is often only one solution that will even work. This will also make the program take much longer to arrive at a solution since it will have to do more work on average before it can find a solution.

At this point, if you are using the solver, you should also try to do part of the puzzle by yourself to help the solver save some time. This should not be terribly difficult since you do not have to find the actual solution, just something that will get a few of the sums satisfied.

Step 3: Don't Be a Square; Be Energy: Now that you have done the Hardcore levels, all you will have left is the square levels, which are slightly easier than the Hardcore levels due to going back to the smaller numbers, though now with every tile affecting a row and a column, the larger levels will still be difficult to do by yourself. In addition, the program will take an incredibly long time to work out solutions due to all of the crossing between rows and columns. Doing part of the puzzle here before letting the solver do its thing will pay off big time as a result. That said, once you are done with this step, you are home free and the platinum is yours.

This one is gonna be a bit of a project since in addition to having to explain how to get the program running, I also not only have to copy down all of the addends values, but also take screenshots of the levels and edit them to show which order the sums should go in to match the way that the addends array is ordered. Thank God I don't have to do individual numbers for each tile as well since those at least can be done in whatever order.

That said, I do wanna see this through since it is an easy plat, but it's tedious by yourself even with the program, so I wanna make it at least a little easier on people by providing the addends values since that is by far the worst part of inputting the values for the program.

EDIT1: Welp, I have all of the addends array values down and I got done all of the pictures for story level sums, so now I just have to make pictures for the square levels and actually provide the program plus steps on how to get it running and I'll be golden.

Once you figure out how to use the program its a joke

I think this is pretty much done now aside from switching everything to Imports format once I get this over to other sites, but I'm leaving it as WIP because it is 8:52 AM here and I got zero sleep, so I would like to look it over when I'm at least a little more awake than I am now. :P
