Intro:

Hunting Simulator is just that, a hunting simulator.  It’s more realistic than the traditional Cabelas but still has it’s own set of flaws.  Animals reappear in areas and the wolves, foxes and coyotes all howl the same.

All in all though it’s a decent hunting game with a straight-forward platinum.  It's just long.  With 117 missions you're looking at putting a good chunk of time into this one.

Step 1:  Hard Campaign

Start up the game on hard difficulty.  Play through all 117 missions.  This will net you every story-related trophy and every difficulty-related trophy.  Along the way you’ll most likely knock out all of the miscellaneous trophies too.

Step 2:

Clean up any trophies you didn’t unlock during the campaign.  It is very possible that you may unlock all the trophies by the time you finish the campaign.  If you don't you'll clean things up post-Campaign.  There are some trophies I feel are easier obtained playing on easy difficulty and with certain unlocks. See the respect trophies in this list for details.  By end of this step you should have:

  • Head Hunter   :gold
  • Take Their Breath Away   :bronze
  • Heartbreaker   :silver
  • Long Distance Hunter   :bronze
  • Hawk Eyes   :bronze
  • Never Seen Me Coming   :silver

450.jpgCasual (B)

2fa.jpgIntermediate (S)
Complete the game on Normal difficulty

70c.jpgRealism (G)
Complete the game on Hard difficulty

Hard difficulty is available from the start and is truly not that difficult. There are a few differences between hard and easy dificulties:

  • No Compass
  • Animal detection is more sensitive
  • Animal tracks won't show in your scope or binoculars. Only if you come upon them
  • Animal tracks are FAR fewer on hard
  • No help from the in-game map

Tips:

  • Don't move too quickly. Sprinting is the easiest way to chase animals off.
  • Once you determine where an animal is it WILL CONTINUE to spawn in that location even after you've killed it. So if you have a mission for killing 3 Elk and only shoot one, run a ways away from the location, wait a little while and return. There will be more.
  • Aside from the respect trophies you don't have to kill the animals in any certain way. Once you get your brain, heart and lung kill trophies shoot the animals wherever you want to take them down

440.jpgHeadhunter (G)
Get 50 Headshots in Single Player or Free Hunt

These 50 shots have to actually hit the brain to count. You are able to occasionally land headshots that aren’t brain shots. When you go to claim an animal you’ve killed you’ll get a report on what organs you hit. If it says “Brain” these count for this trophy.

Also you can go to the Hunter’s Lodge and see the details on the animals you’ve killed so far. In the details will be a tally of what organs you hit for each animal. You can keep track here.

Just take your time and aim for the head. This should come naturally across the Campaign if you’re making sure to try for it.

58f.jpgTake Their Breath Away (B)
Get 25 Lung Shots in Single Player or Free Hunt

This trophy came early in the campaign for me. You naturally hit the lungs very easily when going for a kill.

Also you can go to the Hunter’s Lodge and see the details on the animals you’ve killed so far. In the details will be a tally of what organs you hit for each animal. You can keep track here.

591.jpgHeartbreaker (S)
Get 25 Heart Shots in Single Player or Free Hunt

This is one trophy that did not unlock naturally in the campaign. Heart shots are much more of a pain to hit. The heart is small and you don’t get any help with seeing where it is during hunts. By the end of the campaign I only had 10 heart shots.

What I did to grind these kills was repeat the tutorial. It is VERY easy to hit the heart on the deer in the tutorial. See video below for example:

1cb.jpgLong Distance Hunter (B)
Took down an animal from over 150m in Single Player or Free Hunt

This is not a difficult trophy and can be obtained in any of the early hunts. The easiest method would be to wait for a large animal and use a range finder from your inventory. You’ll need to unlock one first. Make sure you’re 150m away and take the animal down.

Even without a range finder if you play a hunt on easy the game will tell you how far away the animal is. If all else fails start up a mission on easy to knock this one out.

ea5.jpgHawk-Eyed (B)
Spot 100 animals in Single Player or Free Hunt

This will come naturally as you play. There are 117 hunts, many with more than one animal to hunt. You’ll naturally spot this many as you play.

To spot simply aim your weapon at the animal with :l2:

382.jpgNever saw me coming (S)
Complete a Hunt without being detected

This is the most difficult trophy in the game. You cannot get detected during the hunt even AFTER you’ve killed the target animal. That means if the animal is in a group and the gunshot scares the rest of the group away, no trophy.

The best method is to wait until you’ve unlocked the crossbow. It will unlock with one of the very last missions you complete so you’ll need to wait this one out until the Campaign is done.

Once you’ve got it unlocked find a mission with a lone animal hunt and be stealthy as possible. Play on easy difficulty so the animal detection isn’t as sensitive, move very slowly and use the scent killer spray to stay undetected.

Try to find an animal away from the group or at the tail end of a group and take it out with the crossbow. If you don’t land a killing shot it will alert and your trophy is null.

See below video for the method I used:

3ee.jpgRadio Voice (B)
Successfully called 25 animals in Single Player or Free Hunt

As you progress through the campaign you will unlock different guns, accessories etc. One of those are calls and lures. Whenever you unlock one for an animal type make sure to use it. Before you shoot the animal utilize the call or lure. It will begin walking in your direction. You’ll know it’s successful then.

This will come early in the campaign if you use calls each hunt until it unlocks.

b2e.jpgTo be the best, you’ve got to beat the best. (G)
Completed all legendary animal missions

Story-related, cannot be missed.

Legendary missions involved hunting a named animal. Honestly, they aren’t any more difficult or challenging than the other hunts. They’ve simply made these animals look slightly different or larger and given them a name.

The six you need to kill for this trophy are:

  • Tyson
  • Ulrich
  • Titus
  • Brutus
  • 9 Lives
  • The Charger

9f1.jpgThe Wanderer (S)
Complete a hunt without analyzing a track

This is easiest on the first mission of the game. Don’t analyze any tracks, head towards the river or lake and shoot the deer. Trophy will pop once you’ve claimed it.

195.jpgTwo's company (B)
Kill 2 animals from the same herd

Very often you’ll find animals in groups. Especially deer. When you go to kill one, quickly redirect and shoot another. Once you’ve killed two from the same herd this will pop.

Even if you don’t get a kill shot on the first animal still swing over to shoot the other. You can always track the other you shot first.

2aa.jpg2 birds…. (B)
Kill 2 Birds with 1 shot

This will come during your first bird hunt. Simply take down two birds with one shot of the shotgun. The birds bunch up and you’ll get this without even trying. If you struggle you can hold :l3: to slow everything down, wait til the birds are as close as possible and go to town shooting at them.

def.jpgNext please (S)
Kill an entire flock of birds in Waterfowl Hunting

Often during bird hunts you’ll see flocks of three birds. This is the flock you want to target for this trophy. Waiting until you unlock the pump action shotgun or the Sx4 Composite is helpful because those guns carry 5 rounds.

Again hold :l3: down to slow time down and take out all three birds.
