There are a total of 29 Tron Files and 6 Abraxas Shards to collect in Tron: Evolution. It is best to collect them all together and you can also go back and get them via Chapter Select if you miss any along the way. Tron Files look like small gray orbs with a blue glow on them and Abraxas Shards look like small black and yellow pieces of scrap metal. Below is a table I created to keep track of how many Tron Files (TF) and Abraxas Shards (AS) are in each chapter of the game:
Here Are A Few Key Points Of Interest:
- If you collect something and then die before reaching a checkpoint, you will have to collect it again.
- Pay attention to the lower right of your screen so you know you've hit a checkpoint. Another way you can save is by accessing a Disc Station if you see one. I went into every one I saw with and just exited right away with .
- During the game, you can press at any time during a chapter to see how many of each collectable you have and need in that particular chapter. Also, the Chapter Select menu with show you how many of each collectable you have in each chapter as well.
- You can use Chapter Select or a subsequent playthrough to go back and collect anything you missed.
Tutorial/Chapter 1: Reboot
Navi Bit (Tron File 1/29) – Near the end of the tutorial, after you open a door by hitting a switch, you will go out of that door into an open area where you will have to cross a large gap. Grab the gray orb (Tron File) you will see in front of you. Very hard to miss this, as you have to go that way.
Chapter 1: Reboot
Infected (Tron File 2/29) – This file is floating in the middle of the room where you fight some yellow and black enemies. You will have to launch off of the bench below it using .
Abraxas Shard (Shard 1/6) – In the next area, you will see a glowing yellow and black item (Abraxas Shard) above the doorway that you will have to leave through. Simply run and jump to get it.
Tron (Tron File 3/29) – This is after the Master Router Control room (which is after Module 6 Maintenance concourse) that is circular and has corruption everywhere. You will see it above/next to a sculpture that looks like a diamond or a rupee from Zelda.
Sentry (Tron File 4/29) – A while later (after Flynn’s Arcade, Central Processing Services, & Module 3 Quarantine Zone) you will come to an area called Stack 142 Basics Only and a cut scene. Right after you learn/get the Mag Disc ability, you will have to leave the room and you will basically fly right into it while you leaving the room via Mag Disc (r1 + ). Very hard to miss.
Zuse (Tron File 5/29) – This is in the area called Exterior Maintenance Terrace 43. You will have to use a Mag Disc ( r1 + ) to get to it, but it’s very hard to miss because you have to go that way.
Light Cycle (Tron File 6/29) – This is literally in the road while you are driving the light cycle and very easy to miss. It is only about 5 seconds or so into your light cycle driving at full speed. Try to stay to the slight right of the middle line and you should get it. If you miss it, try to hammer the brakes with and then just kill yourself by driving off the broken road section ahead that you are supposed to jump. There is a checkpoint if you make that jump and you will have to replay the entire chapter again to get a chance at it.
Chapter 2: Shutdown
Abraxas Shard (Shard 2/6) – This is in the room called Stack 29 Local Archives. You will fight some yellow and black enemies and you will see it above a door with stairs leading up to it. Just run/jump off of the clear billboard/sign to the right of the door to get to it.
Scout Sentries (Tron File 7/29) – Shortly after collecting the Abraxas Shard above, you will get to an outside area. On your way to progressing to the next area, you will see a Mag Disc that you will have to use + on in order to proceed. You really can’t miss this one.
Solar Sailer (Tron File 8/29) – This is after the first tank you have to fight and in the area called Solar Sailer Departure Area 5F. In this area, you are supposed to fight a boss that looks like a fly. Before fighting him, go to the back left area and the file will be floating there. You will have just have to jump straight up with to get it. Do not defeat the fly boss until you get this, as it will cut scene and end the chapter.
Chapter 3: Arjia
Quorra (Tron File 9/29) – You really can’t miss this one. Shortly after a cut scene, in order to progress you will have to go through a short tunnel. You will see this before you go into the tunnel.
Arjia (Tron File 10/29) – A little while later, the second time you get the objective to Infiltrate Arjia City (just after you take an elevator to a different area), you will be outside and on the right hand side of will be some thin metal-looking structures that look like giant spider legs and a Disc Station on the same platform you are on. At the top of the thin structure closest to you will be the file. In order to get it, jump to the thin structure with , then hold to run up it.
Arjians (Tron File 11/29) – A long time later, after you fight a mini boss, you will be in ArjiaPlaza. There will be a cut scene with Radia (glowing naked lady) and you will fight some enemies. You will then have to use the Mag Disc ( + ) to progress. As you move forward, you should see it at the top of two vertical climbing walls and directly above a grapple point/ledge you can grab.
Light Tank (Tron File 12/29) – You really can’t miss this. Shortly after you leave the Arjia Theatre, there are some stairs you have to go up and then to the right there is a vertical climbing spot in order to progress to the next area.
Abraxas Shard (Shard 3/6) – This shard is also shortly after leaving the Arjia Theatre. There will be some random people running around in that room scared and in order to progress you’ll have to activate some wall triggers. You’ll have to run up a wall to proceed, but you really can’t miss this because you have to go this way.
Chapter 4: The Combatant
TronCity (Tron File 13/29) – This is collected while on the light cycle. Shortly after the beginning, (between 45 seconds and 1 minute of riding the light cycle) stay on the left side when a building falls and it’s on a ramp that is going upward on the left.
Recognizer (Tron File 14/29) – This is probably the toughest one to get while on the light cycle. This file is approximately 2 checkpoints after the last Tron File you picked up (above) and in the center of the road. Beforehand, you will see a broken vehicle on the right blocking part of the road. Then you will see two light cycle enemies, one on the left and one on the right. Next, there will be a few tanks shooting at you from the left-hand side of the road. You will make a right turn that has some energy arrows on the ground and then you will come to some broken sections of the road. Immediately hold L2 to brake here, because it is in the middle of the section of broken road just past this. If you go too fast over the first “jump” you will easily fly over it and miss it altogether, because it is kind of a stair-step down of broken road pieces (second stair-step of broken road in the level). As long as you brake for this section you should at least see it, and hopefully you can kill yourself if you miss it because there is a check point very shortly after this area that will not allow you to go back and get it. You’ll know you went too far if several large pieces of buildings are falling in the area or you make it to the Game Grid (where you get off the light cycle).
Game Grid (Tron File 15/29) – Once you get off the light cycle in the Game Grid Zone, you will come to an area that has some large gears that you have to activate. There are four switches you have to trigger and then use + to progress. While you are facing the exit door it will be on your right.
CLU (Tron File 16/29) – In the next (open) area where you will have to use + a couple of times to progress, there will be a door in front of you that you can’t open. Go to the left of the door, where there is a glowing spot on the wall, and run/climp up that spot. Then you’ll see a grill/vent in front of you that you have to run/climb up as well. After climbing the vent, stop here and turn around. It should be right behind you. Do not go down the hallway or you will miss it.
