Ya, I haven't read the books but knew the Red Wedding was coming, but what floors me is how much misdirection is a part of the storytelling - even with stuff in the show that is different from the books.
In the books, Robb's wife is a completely different character and wasn't present at the wedding. I was convinced, after the show revealed that his wife in the show, Talisa, was pregnant, that she wouldn't be at the wedding either... or would escape along with the Blackfish... and going forward you would have a legitimate heir to Winterfell and rightful "King of the North" who might go into exile or something. I dunno what happens to his wife in the books after the Red Wedding, but I figured Talisa's storyline and her storyline would line-up. Alas, that didn't happen...
The tough part is that basically, the Starks as a house are done for the rest of the series. Bran and Arya are both turning into freakshows, Sansa is married to a Lannister, and Rickon is far too young to make any difference.
A lot of people are rooting for Danny and her dragons, but if GRRM has any integrity he'll have her suffering soon for all the "freeing the slaves" idealism. If she gets involved with the Fabio guy, that just makes it worse. The thing about Game of Thrones, is people always pay for their foolish decisions and ignoring the power game - doesn't matter if they're "bad" or "good".
