Difficulty: 2/10
47 Trophies : 1 :plat , 1 :gold , 13 :silver , 32 :bronze
Estimated Time For Platinum: 4-6 hours
Minimum Number Of Playthroughs: 1
Glitched Trophies: none
Do Dificulty Trophies Stack: yes
Cheats: yes but don't use them to be safe
Missable Trophies: none (chapter select)

INTRODUCTION

Rango "The Video Game" takes place after the movie itself. As Rango, the sheriff of the town Dirt, you set out to protect the town from Bad Bill and Rattlesnake Jake who have control of pieces of a meteorite that has mysterious powers that Rango needs to take back.

This is your usual platform jumping kids game. Similar to games like Sly Cooper and Megamind. For a kids game, it's not that bad. It's also pretty funny at times as well.

ROAD MAP

Since the 2 story ending trophies stack, start your only playthrough on "hard" mode. Hard mode is VERY easy so don't worry. The only trophy that takes a while is to collect 200,000 sheriff stars. However you can and should knock out that trophy during chapter 1. Look below in the trophy guide under chapter 1 for more info on it.

Also there are 2 different collectibles you need to collect during the story. They are fish bowls and mining spots. I will place very helpful videos at the beginning of each chapter showing the spots of both collectibles. Thanks to MonsterAchievements for the videos.

Other then that, there's no need for a road map because:

I HAVE LISTED THE TROPHIES BELOW IN THE ORDER YOU WILL UNLOCK THEM

CHAPTER 1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq1EMN_xOsY

Posted Image Honorable Cowboy :bronze
Defeat a shooter without using your gun

This will be the first trophy you earn. Near the start of the level, you'll get a cut-scene where Bad Bill will throw a couple of enemies down to the ground to attack you. Simply melee the first enemy with the :square button for your first trophy.

Posted Image Clay Pigeon :bronze
Launch an enemy with an uppercut then shoot him three times

Also during the first fight, run up to an enemy, hold the :r2 button and push :square to knock the enemy into the air. Release :r2 then rapidly shoot with :r1 to kill him in the air.

If your having trouble, wait until there's only 1 enemy left to do it on him.

Posted Image Taking Aim :bronze
Defeat 20 enemies using manual aim

Now kill the next 20 enemies you come across with manual aim. Manual aim with :l1 and then shoot with :r1 .

Posted Image Sting Like a Bee :bronze
Defeat 100 enemies with melee attacks

I'm putting this here so your aware of this trophy now. Chances are you'll unlock this without even trying. Use the :square button to melee. Even if you die, the kills still count so melee your heart out.

Just make sure not to melee at all during chapter 2 so you can get the trophy "Gun Happy".

Posted Image Three Sevens :bronze
Collect 1,000 Sheriff Stars

See "Red, White & Blue Sevens" below.

Posted Image Blue Sevens :bronze
Collect 10,000 Sheriff Stars

See "Red, White & Blue Sevens" below.

Posted Image White Sevens :bronze
Collect 100,000 Sheriff Stars

See "Red, White & Blue Sevens" below.

Posted Image Red Sevens :silver
Collect 150,000 Sheriff Stars

See "Red, White & Blue Sevens" below.

Posted Image Red, White & Blue Sevens :silver
Collect 200,000 Sheriff Stars

This trophy requires some serious grinding. Other guides have said to replay the 1st level over and over. However I used a strategy that is WAY quicker!

At the end of level 1 you'll have to fight a big centipede looking thing that spits out 6 minature centipedes around every 10 seconds that drop alot of Sheriff Stars. As long as you don't kill the big centipede, he will continue to spawn the minature ones.

If you do happen to kill the big centipede on accident, immediatly push :start , and quit to the main menu. On the main menu, choose to "continue story". You'll start at the beginning of the fight with the centipede.

Use the "charge" move to quickly eliminate the minature centipedes. Hold the :square button until you see Rango's body light up and then let go of the button. Try to avoid hitting the big centipede as much as you can when you do this.

I highly suggest farming this until you have around 60,000 sheriff stars so you can upgrade a couple things to make it even quicker. This should only take you around 20-30 minutes. Once you have around that amount, push :start and choose to "restart tale". Continue through the stage again until you get to a part where you have to jump and push :square to break through a hole in the ground. Once you do you'll see a guy named Wounded Bird standing in the dark. Talk to him and fully upgrade these 3 things to the max:

*Increases Sheriff Star output for dispatching enemies in combat*

*Increases the speed at which you can use the Charged Attack*

*Increases the range of the Charged Attack*

With these 3 fully upgraded, farming the big centipede will be alot quicker. Now I know this is extremely boring but if you farm him until you have the full 200,000 sheriff stars, you'll be able to upgrade everything and you'll have the platinum at the end of the story instead of having to replay some chapters for missed trophies. It should only take you another 45 minutes. Have fun :P

Another option for farming stars thanks to Monkey-Hands:

Start chapter 8 "Nowhere & Back". At the end of the chapter after a short cutscene you'll be riding on a goldfish. There'll be lots of stars to collect then.

Once you reach the red carpet and go through the door, press start, select "replay tale" and you'll start right at the goldfish part. You can collect up to 7000 stars in 3 minutes this way.

Posted Image Bull's Eye! :bronze
Hit a bullseye in Golden Bullet mode for the first time

Right after you kill the big centipede, a gold bullet will appear in the air. Rango will load the bullet in his gun and shoot at 2 targets back to back. Hit the bullseye on at least one of the targets to earn this trophy. You can control the bullets direction with :l3 .

If you happen to miss this, don't worry. You'll have many chances at this trophy.

Posted Image Homesteader :bronze
Complete Jenkins Cousins' Homestead

Story related and non missable. You earn this at the end of chapter 1.

CHAPTER 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL7XMkD96BE&feature=related

Posted Image Gun Happy :silver
Complete a tale using only your gun

Make sure you only shoot your gun this entire chapter. Do not melee at all and you'll earn this trophy.

If you have your gun fully upgraded this will be no problem since you can hold down the :r1 button instead of having to rapidly tap it.

Posted Image It's Not Easy Being Green :silver
Complete a tale without dying

The trophy description says it all. Don't die during this chapter and you'll unlock the trophy.

If your having trouble with this, wait until you finish the story mode. Then switch the difficulty to "easy" and choose the 1st stage which is the easiest.

Posted Image Meep! Meep! :silver
Ride a roadrunner for an entire level without dying

The trophy description is a little misleading since you only ride the roadrunner for the beginning of the stage, not the whole stage.

You'll begin this stage riding on the back of a roadrunner. This is one of those trophies that is alot easier if you have upgraded your health to it's max. The only real challenge during this is the falling cactus and the falling rocks. Enemies aren't much of a threat at all since there are very little of them.

Posted Image Good Air Day :bronze
Launch 10 enemies off the train in Water Train

To knock an enemy of the train during this chapter, you must use the uppercut. Uppercut by holding :r2 to crouch and then push :square.
There are plenty of enemies for this trophy but just make sure you do this during this chapter.

Posted Image Crate Hate :bronze
Smash open 250 crates

If you were breaking all the crates open during chapter 1, you'll unlock this shortly after beginning chapter 2. Regardless, it's another trophy that's pretty much impossible to miss.

Posted Image McClane Worthy :bronze
Escape the exploding train in Water Train

During chapter 2 you'll get a cut-scene showing an enemy flying on a bat. He'll shoot at you and in the process, will blow up some fireworks onboard the train. Once you have control start running. You only have a couple jumps to make and you'll escape the explosions.

As a side note, the trophy name refers to John McClane (Bruce Willis) from the Die Hard movies ^_^

Posted Image 100% Bull :silver
Hit 3 bullseyes in a row

You'll eventually come to an area on the train where you have to defeat around 15 enemies to continue. Once you do, a gold bullet will appear in the air. Use it and Rango will load it into his gun.

You'll have 3 targets that you'll shoot at back to back. You need to hit the bullseye on all 3 for the trophy. Remember that you can control the bullet with :l3 once it's in the air. If you miss either of the first two, completely miss the third target on purpose and you'll get another chance. If you miss the third target, jump off the train to kill yourself to get another shot at it. Of course if your going for the trophy "It's Not Easy Being Green", you might not want to jump off and kill yourself considering you'll have other chances at this trophy.

Posted Image A Tommy Gun! :bronze
Acquire the Blaster and take out 10 enemies with it

Shortly after the above trophy you'll come to a area on the train where you'll see a "jack-n-the-box" (a box with a question mark on the sides). Before killing any enemies shoot the box and the "Blaster Gun" will pop out of it. Pick it up and take out all the enemies that appear. You only have a limited amount of time before the gun runs out but if you've upgraded it, you'll have plenty of time.

Posted Image They Got a Pill For That :bronze
Shoot Bad Bill's dynamite bundle before he throws it in Water Train

At the final area of the train, Bad Bill will be standing on a platform and he'll pull out dynamite, hold it over his head, then throw it at you. Manual aim with :l1 and shoot the dynamite with :l2 while he's holding it over his head.

If you miss, don't worry. He'll continue to do it over and over so make sure you get the trophy before you take him out.

Posted Image Thirsty Work :bronze
Defeat Bad Bill in Water Train

Story related and non missable. You'll earn this at the end of chapter 2. See the trophy above for a tip on how to defeat him.

CHAPTER 3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3AeX9chTVI&feature=related

Posted Image The Cleaner :bronze
Defeat 500 enemies

If you've been killing all the enemies and not skipping them up to this point, the trophy should unlock sometime during this chapter.

Posted Image Spread the Love :bronze
Acquire the Spreadshot and take out 10 enemies with it

Right after running from a blown up walkway and then a giant green 9-ball, you'll come to an area with another jack-in-the-box. This time it will contain a "Spreadshot Gun". Once again if you have the weapon completely upgraded, it'll be hard not to get the trophy.

Posted Image Tank Buster :silver
Defeat a huge charging rabbit using only melee attacks, without taking any damage from him

You'll eventually get a cut-scene that shows a giant rabbit bust through a wall and come charging at you. When you see a orange glowing color appear on the rabbit, this means he's going to charge at you. Avoid his charge and he'll run into the wall and become dazed for a few seconds. At this moment run up to him and melee him with 3-4 punches and step back again. Repeat this process to take him out and remember, to unlock the trophy you can't get hit by him or shoot at him, only melee him. If he does hit you, let him kill you and you'll restart at the beginning of the fight.

Posted Image Demolitions :silver
Lure a Jumper to land on a shotgun shell

A "jumper" is a rabbit who will jump really high in the air, then will show a target on the ground where he will land. A "shotgun shell" looks like 3 shotguns shells taped together.

You'll encounter both at the final area of the chapter. Avoid blowing up the shotgun shells until the jumpers appear. Once they do, run over and stand next to a shotgun shell. Wait for there landing target to appear over the shotgun shell. Once they land on the shotgun shell you'll unlock the trophy.

Posted Image Around the Bowl :bronze
Defeat Bad Bill in Forbidden Mine

Once you defeat all the enemies in the final area, you'll see a golf bag in the air. Your aiming to hit the bell hanging over Bad Bill's head. Hit the golf ball with around 80% of the full power to reach the bell. Remember you can control the golf ball once it's in the air with :l3 .

Posted Image Forty Niner :bronze
Complete The Forbidden Mine

Story related and non missable. You'll earn this at the end of this chapter.

CHAPTER 4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gayKCsSH_7Y&feature=related

Posted Image I Got a Present For Ya! :bronze
Acquire the Launcher and take out 10 enemies with it

Right after you jump onto the hand of a clock, the mariachi band will pop out of the clock and do a little jingle. After that you'll come to a small area where you'll find a jack-in-the-box with the Launcher inside it. There are only around 10 enemies so make sure you hit the jack-in-the-box and grab the Launcher before you take any enemies out.

If you miss it here, don't worry. There are plenty of chances at this trophy.

Posted Image The Bigger They Are :bronze
Defeat Lars in Land of Giants

At the end of the stage you'll be spotted by the giant human Lars. You'll need to use your golf bag and hit him in the head with 3 golf balls before he smashes you. Hit with about 60 to 70% of the full power. Also don't forget that you can control the golf balls once there in the air with the :l3 button.

Posted Image Fee! Fie! Foe! Fum! :bronze
Complete Land of Giants

Story related and can't be missed. See the trophy above for info on how to finish the stage and get the trophy.

Posted Image Widow Maker :silver
Defeat 1000 enemies

If you've been killing all the enemies you've came across and not been skipping them, you should unlock this towards the end of this chapter.

Posted Image Who's Bad Now? :bronze
Defeat Bad Bill in Rodent Clan

At the end of the stage you'll once again be on the back of a roadrunner chasing Bad Bill who's on a stagecoach. He'll be shooting at you, blowing up walls that will collapse toward you, throwing bombs toward you and other enemies will attack on roadrunners as well. Just avoid these thing while concentrating your fire on Bad Bill and you'll pass it.

Posted Image The Cooler King :bronze

Posted Image Rock and Roll Cowboy :bronze
Survive the crumbling canyon in The Return of Rattlesnake Jake

During this chapter, the canyon will start to fall apart. Simply keep running and jumping to pass it. Very easy trophy.

Posted Image Snake Charmer :bronze
Defeat Rattlesnake Jake in The Return of Rattlesnake Jake

This is a very easy boss fight. The only thing Rattlesnake Jake will do is slam his body on the ground towards you and then enemies will attack. Every once in a while he will look at you and scream. This is when you can cause damage so unload on him. This will repeat until you take him out. Very easy.

Posted Image I Shot the Sheriff :silver
Defeat 6 zombies with one golf shot

Towards the end of this chapter you'll have to defend a gate from being broken down by zombies while hitting them with golf balls.
The golf balls are explosive so this trophy is very hard to miss. Since you can control the golf balls aim once there in the air, aim towards a huge group of zombies to easily hit 6 at one time.

Posted Image This is Bat Country! :silver
Ride a bat for an entire level without dying

At the end of this chapter, you'll be riding on a bat. This is a little harder then the roadrunner scenes. There is alot of walls and cliffs to avoid at a high speed. Once again though, the enemies are not much of a threat, rather the threat being the enviroment instead. However, if your health has been upgraded to the max, you should have no problem avoiding death during this scene.

Posted Image Thorough Examination :bronze
Defeat the Alien Probe in Alien Invasion

This is the final fight in the game. The Alien Probe has quite a few different attack but there all lasers. Every attack he has you just need to avoid by jumping over or dodging. To damage him he'll open his eye up every one in a while so you'll need to manual aim to hit it. Also he drops energy power ups quite often making this fight pretty easy. Once you see the fish fall out of the Alien Probe unload on it and your done.

Posted Image Why Can't We All Just Get Along? :bronze

Story related and non missable. Look at the above trophy for info on the final battle of the game.

Here's another good tip for farming sheriff stars:

Start chapter 8 "Nowhere & Back". At the end of the chapter after a short cutscene you'll be riding on a goldfish. There'll be lots of stars to collect then.
Once you reach the red carpet and go through the door, press start, select "replay tale" and you'll start right at the goldfish part. You can collect up to 7000 stars in 3 minutes this way. :D
