Road Map

Introduction: Click here for a wikipedia article containing a brief synopsis.

Step 1: Peruse all the trophies, specifically the ones in the “Miscellaneous Trophies” section. You want to do this because there are quite a few trophies in the mentioned section that you’ll want to work on while doing…

Step 2: Complete story mode with all gold medals. See the “General of the SkyHeroes” trophy for more details on getting gold medals.

Step 3: Finish up the “Takedown” trophies. All of these are listed in that section of the guide.

Step 4: Mop up. You shouldn't have much, if anything, left. If you do, just look at the trophy specific guides and knock them out now.

Miscellaneous Trophies

Posted Image I Got ALL The Weapons I Need Posted Image
All at once, have active 'Shield', 'Twin Options', and 'F-Beam' powerups

With a little planning, you should be able to unlock this naturally in the story mode. However, if you’re having trouble or just want to get this easily, then simply go to Quickplay and 20 minute match on the Jack Frost Skyport map with no AI opponents. The map is really small and the three power ups you need can all be found easily and they are pretty close to each other.

Posted Image Lemming Award Posted Image
Crash your plane

Yep, you get rewarded for failing in this game. *sigh* Oh well, crashing may not be as obvious as you may think, since running into walls or the ground doesn’t cause you to crash. Also, takedowns don’t count as crashes. The only way (I know of) to crash in this game is to run into exploding objects. Do that once and you’ll unlock this trophy.

Posted Image I'm Fine, But Dizzy Posted Image
Spend 20 minutes power turning

This is cumulative. You’ll be doing a lot of power turning to make sharp turns so that you can keep your opponents in your sights. So, this should come naturally. You can power turn by pressing and holding :circle (or :triangle) while turning. If this hasn’t unlocked naturally for you, then just set up a Quickplay match with no opponents and turn, turn, turn!

Posted Image I Feel The Need For Speed! Posted Image
Spend 10 minutes at super boost speed

As long as you’re accelerating regularly (with :cross) and hitting all of the speed boost checkpoints during the races in story mode, this trophy will unlock naturally. Otherwise, set up a quickplay race and start boosting!

Posted Image You Ain't Got Nothin' On Me Posted Image
Complete a race or dogfight in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place without getting taken down once

I got this during my first dogfight. But if you’re having trouble, you can set up low score free-for-all dogfight against one easy opponent in quickplay. Defeat him without him taking you down and you’ll get the trophy.

You may also be able to set up a timed dogfight with 0 (zero) opponents and just let the time run out to get this trophy, but I haven’t verified this.

Posted Image Resilient Posted Image
Go from being below 10% health to 100% health without getting taken down

As with many of the other miscellaneous trophies, I got this naturally in the game without really trying. You regain health by damaging other opponents with large amount of health being rewarded if you take down your opponents. The hard part about this is timing it so that you take down your opponents when your health is low. If you’re having trouble with this trophy and have two controllers, you can just do a local multiplayer dogfight, take the second controller shoot the first player until you’re really low on health, then swap controllers and shoot the other one until you fully regain your health.

Posted Image Stunt(ed) Growth Posted Image
Perform a total of 500 air stunts

To perform an air stunt, press the :r3 up, down, left or right. Repeat 499 more times.

Posted Image Dodgy Posted Image
Dodge a total of 500 missiles

A missile is considered dodged any time it fails to do damage to even though the missile warning icon appears on the lower left of your screen. In particular, you often won’t have to do anything to dodge a missile because it will just miss you. That said, you can greatly increase your chances of dodging a missile by pressing up or down (not left or right) on the :r3 when you see the missile warning.

Posted Image Property Damage Posted Image
Destroy a total of 1000 breakables

Just shoot every floating thing you see and all the stacked crates and this trophy will pop in no time.

Posted Image Platinum Trophy Posted Image
Earn all trophies in MySims SkyHeroes

This will unlock right after you unlock all the other trophies. :rock

Earn a gold medal in 100% of all story missions

In completing this trophy, you will necessarily unlock all of the other trophies that reference it. At the end of each mission, you have the option to “Continue” or “Replay”. You also can go back and replay any missions you like by going to your journal in the barracks. If you find that you can’t get gold on a mission, check to see if you can upgrade your plane and that may help.

There are three types of missions. They are listed below with a short description.

Races: To get a gold medal in these missions, you need to come in first place. There is some rubber-banding in this game; i.e. even if you’re flying perfectly some of the AI will miraculously fly faster than they should be able to and pass you up. The best way I found to counter this is to make sure that you a have solid weapon going into the last lap. If the AI takes the lead, soften them up with your machine guns and as the end draws closer, finish them off with your saved weapon. It should also be noted that a few of these race missions omit the weaponry. However, in these cases, the AI plays more fairly and you should have no problem getting gold.

Dogfights: To get gold medals in these missions, you need to come in first place by having the highest score. You get points from damaging opponents and you get a bonus if you actually take them down. Your score is displayed on the top right of the screen in white. How much you're ahead or behind is displayed directly above your score. If you’re ahead, this number will be in green. If you’re behind, the number will be in red.

Like the races, the computer often cheats and will somehow always keep up with your score even if you’re meting out some serious damage. There is no real way to counter this beyond just pummeling your opponents. I found the best way to rack up points was to find the Orbital Strike power up(s) on the map and use these as much as possible. While you’re waiting for these power ups to respawn, I found the F-Beam and Twin Option power ups quite useful.

Objective Based Missions: These are actual missions that you have to fulfill some specific objectives. For example, you may have to destroy some generators or some machine gun turrets or take down some specific opponents. To get gold in these missions, you have to beat the mission under a certain amount of time. In most cases, the amount of time allocated is pretty generous. Occasionally, you’ll need to replay a mission, but after a couple of tries, you should easily be able to finish under the specified time.

Posted Image Condor Posted Image
Outfit a plane with all level 3 parts in story mode

You unlock plane parts (and perks) by completing missions with more unlocking if you get higher medals. Since you’re wanting to get gold medals on all the missions, you should get this trophy and the “Hawk” one naturally, as you’ll want to upgrade your plane as soon as possible. You change your parts by editing your plane (or creating a new one) in the hanger. For these trophies, it doesn’t matter the actual parts that you use as long as they’re all of the same level. For this one, make sure you’re choosing all three star parts. For the “Hawk” trophy, make sure they’re all two star.

Posted Image If You Build It, You Can Play It Posted Image
Assemble 5 planes in story mode where all parts are from the same aircraft type

You unlock this trophy whenever you want. Just follow these steps: Go to the hanger and create a new plane. When editing the plane, go to the “Upgrades” option and then choose the “All” option. While in this option, the planes you create will all have parts from the same aircraft. Pick one, then save. Now repeat four more times.

Posted Image You ARE Talented Posted Image
Play at least 1 mission with every perk

There are 15 perks in total and you unlock them as you play through the story mode. As long as you’re swapping them out as you unlock them, this trophy will come naturally. At the end of the game, you can have up to three perks equipped at any given time. So, if don’t have this trophy by the time you clear the game, just replay missions by going to your journal in the barracks and swap perks as necessary.

Takedown Trophies

Posted Image Takedown Master Posted Image
Score at least 12 takedowns in a single dogfight

I actually got this trophy and the two trophies that reference it naturally in story mode. However, if you’re having trouble with it, set up a Quickplay match with the settings outlined in the “Supernova Master” trophy. Be sure to select the Orbital Strike perk as one of your perks. Now, go up to the top of the big building that’s against the mountain wall to find an Orbital Strike. Use it to pummel your opponents. Repeat until you have 12 takedowns. It is unlikely that you’ll get taken down before you get 12, but if you do just retry and you’ll eventually get it.

The takedowns carry over through all game modes. So, you’ll accumulate many if not all of the required take downs for many of these weapons naturally while playing through the story mode. Nevertheless, if you’re like me, you’ll probably have a good chunk of these left over after you’ve beaten the game. So, to clean up on this trophy and all of the ones that reference it, do the following:
  • Go to Quickplay mode and set up a Free-For-All Dogfight match with the following settings:
    • Ending Condition: Points
    • Ending Value: 10000
    • AI Count: 9
    • AI Difficulty: Very Easy
    • Random Map: No
    • Power-Ups: X2 Damage
    • Machine Gun: X2 Damage
    • Missiles: X2 Damage
  • Choose the Sim you created for story mode as your Sim and you can have him pilot any level 3 (3-star) aircraft.
  • Choose your perks according to which weapon you’re trying to get takedowns for.
  • Choose the Jack Frost Skyport as your map. It’s small and all of the power ups are easy to find.
  • Start the match up, find the power up and let your opponents have it!
  • Obviously, after the trophy you’re working on pops move on to the next weapon you’re set up for.
  • Repeat these steps as necessary. (Note that you can obviously quit the match if you’ve unlocked the trophies that you set the match up for.)

Destroy 50 locked-on missiles using the 'Supernova' powerup

See the “Explosive Device Master” trophy.

Posted Image Mines Master Posted Image
Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Mines' powerup

See the “Explosive Device Master” trophy.

Posted Image Explosive Device Master Posted Image
Earn 25 takedowns from damage caused by destroying explosive breakables

This trophy and the two that reference can be done using the method outlined in the “Supernova Master” trophy, but they’re much easier to do in Multiplayer with another person.

Go to Multiplayer. I did it locally with a second controller, but online should work as well. Set up a Free-For-All Dogfight match with the same settings as specified in the “Supernova Master” trophy, except set the AI Count to 0 (zero). This way it’ll just be you and your buddy flying on the map.

If you’re trying to destroy missiles for the “Supernova Defense Master” trophy, pick up one of the two Supernova power ups and have your friend fire two missiles at you in quick succession. As soon as you see the missile warning on the lower left of your screen, deploy the Supernova with :l1. Repeat as necessary.

If you’re going for mine takedowns for the “Mines Master”, pick a spot on the map that you’ll always deploy the mines and have your buddy crash into them. Repeat as necessary.

Finally, if you’re going for this actual trophy, then things are a slightly more complicated. Soften up your opponent with machine gun fire. When their health is low, have them fly close to (but not into) the mines on the map (not ones that you lay out). Tail them while they’re doing this and shoot the explosives when they’re close to it. Repeat as necessary.
